What is Vitamin B7|Biotin used for?

Biotin is a water soluble vitamin.  It is known as vitamin H or Vitamin B7.  It cannot store itself in the body because as a water soluble vitamin it dissolves and then is excreted out of the kidneys and in the urine.  That tells us that you need to bring in a new supply of it every day from your diet.

Biotin is from the word bio, which means life and it is needed by all organisms of the earth. It is one of the eight B vitamins and is usually included in a multivitamin.

Biotin is a required vitamin by your body and is naturally available in many foods including liver, cauliflower, salmon, carrots, bananas, soy flour, cereals, yeast and other foods. The quantity of vitamin B7 decreases when you cook or freeze the food, so it is best to eat them in their most natural form if at all possible.

There are many uses for biotin in the body.  It is needed for the growth and health of your body and aids in converting fatty acids and glucose in fuel.  Without this fuel your energy level would be low and it would be difficult to go about your routine day.  If you are feeling run down and lethargic you might need to add some more Vitamin B to your diet.

A few more uses for Biotin are that is plays a part in keeping your nerve tissues, bone marrow and sweat glands healthy.  It also metabolizes amino acids and carbohydrates and helps to produce certain enzymes that your body needs for normal functioning.

As you can see Biotin is an important nutrient for our bodies.  You should bring it in through your diet and eating healthy.  However, if you cannot you should take a supplement. Know your body, take charge of it. Isn’t it time you bring your body to good nutritional health?
